dave-brown wrote:This is well decent. This rockn roll styled guitaring joined with good boot stomping Oi! tunes is only really being pulled off by these guys, Crown Court and maybe Vanity from the states. But I have a copy of Vanitys 's more recent 'Dont be Shy' sitting in my room as we speak, I've only listened to it a couple of times. Their 'Vain in Life' release was pretty fist pumping, but had some divided responses. Rockn Roll Oi meets hipster rock was not an inaccurate description. Well if 'Vain in life' wasn't hipster rock enough, 'Dont be shy' definately is. It really is quite painful and i do no reccomend buying it whatsoever. The copy in my room belongs to a mate, he listened to it at mine and hasn't even bothered taking it home.
here it is if youre generally interested.

Whaaaaa? Don't Be Shy is way better than all that other cookie-cutter shite. It's a ballsy as fuck album with great songwriting and delivery. Got that old glam-rock 70's street rocker vibe to it. The 'acoustic' songs are great too.

One of my faves of 2016. For Punk, rock 'n' roll and any kind of guitar-based music in 2016 it's as genuine an album as I've heard. Mind you they probably don't care 2 shits about being an labelled 'Oi' and will keep on drinkin' down at the soccer tavern.

Would gladly take that LP of yer hands!

Ah we'll have to agree to disagree on this one Sam, Ive listened to it once more since giving it such a hard time, mainly cos you backed it so hard, still not sold. It's somthing i'd expect to find playing at a bar in Fitzroy or whatever the Hipster equivalent is in auckland these days. Kalem is coming around in an hour, if he doesnt take it home with him I'll try frisbee it across the tasman to you Sam!!

I like Malaysian OI! allot, having visited Malaysia several times and made many good friends there also helped develop appreciation for the local scene.
I've always been aware of the nationalist side of skinhead culture within Malaysia, I hope the youngsters involved in this video here get away from the bollox though. Young and overly keen i guess.
I stumbled upon this video after becoming frustrated that allot of the S.E Asian OI! bands I listened to sung in English and therefore lost a sense of their own identity and were taking on too much of their influences. Ironically 'Brown Attack' the main Malay Power Oi! group sing allot in English. Then I found this...Admittedly I have no idea what the lyrics are, but various hand movements involved are fairly condemning, unfortunate as the musics awesome haha.....

May sound unbelievable, but back in days of myspace. We got asked to play Oi Fest in Indonesia. At time, I was in contact with Last Resorts JJ Kaos bassist and I said to asains, why get us you shld get the real deal, they ended up touring Indonesia and Malaysia, thru asians that asked us. You can look on Utube and see that they did. And I recently found doco on it, made me happy. Sounds like there is or was, quite a following for Oi in those country's, a lot more than most peaople realise and you can see how happy Roi Pearce, looks to have gone there. As for Micky Fitz, he lived a hard life, hard drinkning. The Business were once, my fav band and still are up there. As steve Droog said, cant beat Real Enemy. Far as Im concerned, they did probably a good 6 to 8 just as good, Oi classics. Harry May, Drinking and Driving,Welcome to the Real World (actually have signed copy of that LP by all 5 band members, No Emotions, Keep the faith, Suburban Rebels...but theres still the real deal of The Rejects kickn about and as sad as it was. Tony Van Frater died, it made them get back with Vince Riordan (spelln who cares) and Rejects with Micky, Vince and Stinky Turner is the real rejects. They didnt even have a drummer, when they recorded first LP, they talked the producer into doin that. Thats real Oi 2 me. Anyway Dave, you Punk Nazi ha ha whens my tshirt arriving, for the band name?? Probably almost need 2 xl at mo, but Xl will do. Tell James, Come Ere shld be a new song.

New Cocksparrer album 'Forever' was just released.
First album since 'Here we stand' in 2010. Just like the last one, its not bad considering theyve been together since 1972 , a couple awesome tracks, a couple average ones, couple fillers etc. Over produced and too clean, but not bad. One slightly pro militaristic song, not my buzz. But its sparrer and they cant do much wrong in my eyes.

Tommy proctor appears in one of their videos briefly

In other news. BOOZE AND GLORY sunk to a new level of absolute shit. Im not posting a link. Just take my word.

Ah, Jenny woo, Shania twain for skinheads. I saw her at a festival in Munich. She was hilarious. But i was with Scotty from Gripper who happens to know her, so she came up and chatted to us, i was polite but didnt mention her music as to avoid being rude or lying. She told me i was a "grubby boy" and cleaned my face with a hankey she happened to have on her. It was quite funny. Shes very friendly, but her music is unnessecary.

"her music is unnessecary"

Haha I laughed at that.

I came across her last year for the firs time when I was doing a women in punk show. I'm pretty sure I just ended up skipping her because it was so terrible.

I feel the need to comment "Juxtaposition" mixed with the word "Oi" in there somewhere....
