The soundtrack to this movie, especially this 9 minute part... fuck, watched it way too many times as a kid,

Tons of video game soundtracks though some faves:

Final Fantasy 7 soundtrack

riff sounds heaps like Metallica's Call of Ktulu.

Chrono Trigger soundtrack

Turrican II - fucking EPIC.

My favourite thing about the States so far is listening to Pantera and not having to say 'yeah, y'know, i just used to like it in High School'.

My flatmates have been listening to it every day since it came out with no irony involved. Just one of the many reasons they are so awesome.

The thing you'll notice about the States is you'll go "You like Band X, do you also like Band XX?" and the person will go "Never of them."

I've noticed that a bit and have to pause myself in case people think you're on the one up wagon or some shit.
I'm not a cool guy anymore.

^^ Dude that is fucking freaky... just saw this thread and was about to post that video - NO JOAK. The opening synth is fucking awesome, reminds me of video game music. Madonna was hot back then and had a pretty good voice imo. I've always had a random soft spot for certain 80's pop songs, probably cause my bros and sister had tons of tapped music shows from the 80's which I used to watch growing up.

On a similarish 80's style shit note, I've been getting into a little space synth lately, this shit probably takes the cake for some mates knowing you listen to this and going "what the fuck is this shit bro?"

Also, I've always quite dug this Electric Six song, I can't fucking stand "Gay Bar" though

Try looking up Italo Disco http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italo_Disco and Space disco .... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_disco ...space-synth is just another name for space disco someone made up to get hits on their website...

So I counted early Madonna as a 'guilty pleasure' nine years ago. What a fucking idiot.

Here's some real guilty pleasures...

Because I reckon the chorus in this actually fucking rules:

Because it's bonehead scumbag white power shit. There is more than one reason I actually enjoy listening to this band but I cbf elaborating right now.

Because it's Gary Glitter. There's about 6 or 7 GG songs that I really like, everything else I've heard is pretty unlistenable. 'Trash glam' is the best description of this style I've heard. I think what I like about it has more to do with the Glitter Band, but I've heard a single by them without Gary Glitter and it's definitely more forgettable.

I'm probably stretching the definition of 'guilty pleasures' in a weird way here, but the Dane Rumble one is legitimate.

Lol naughty naughty. If you're into that, you might like this band from Adelaide. It's a shame about the lyrical content, theyre really good.

I actually came onto this thread to say that my spotify 'dad rock mix' lead me down a rabbit hole... James Taylor came on and i didn't turn it off. I think im slowly turning into my dad. The apple is perpetually gravitating back towards the tree

This features on my 'daves feel good pop mix'
It once accompanied me on repeat on a classic overnight amphetamine fueled wellington to auckland mission.
