sounds okay, but lookin for some more crushing, harrowing sounding shit.. if a bit more "post-" sounding... y'dig?

again, probably a repost - but that band IAMTHETHORN has some pretty good moments... Vox are a bit Anselmo at parts, mind you.

Just had a listen through Wo Fat - Psychedelonaut while hooning some comics today, fucking good as.

http://stonerobixxx.blogspot.com/2010/0 ... -2009.html

also, though a little underwhelming on first listen, the new A Storm of Light grew on me quite a bit. called "Forgive Us Our Trespasses".

Been listening to Woburn House - Monstrous Manoeuvres In The Mushroom Maze over the last couple of day's, pretty mean. The song 'Oil' rules, complete with a sample from The Network at the start. Some overly wanky review:
'Beautifully crafted, adventurous and inspiring - this unique band are always tough to pin down. Levitating between the bliss of the finest European avantgarde metal, epic song structures and earthy, organic post-rock tones, "Monstrous Manoeuvres In The Mushroom Maze" unfurls layer upon layer of beautifully textured melody that is driven by a bass drift that reminds us of classic early Lungfish in parts too. And all wrapped up in beautiful artwork painted by Toby Driver of Kayo Dot and mastered by the sound genius of Tom Kvålsvoll.' - Paradigms Recordings

one song? I had to hear both albums right through before I could pass judgement. I was recommended on the basis of "black metal for the Neurosis fan" but I usually hate shit sentences like that

Some of these might have been mentioned, but
Grief
Thorlock
My Uncle the Wolf
Mouth Of the Architect
Wolves in the Throneroom
Pelican
Capricorns

Last four probably more post metal then what you're looking for. Also this band called Black Elk, who I'm really liking at the moment... kind of hard to explain sound, reminds me of the Melvins I guess.

I couldn't bring myself to give a fuck about either of those bands..

My friend in Melbourne was telling me about this time hanging out with Seldon Hunt out the back of some show - Pelican were on stage and apparently Seldon was so fukkin pissed at how shit their drummer is, he got the dude's laptop, stuffed all this shaved ham in it then closed it, put it back in his bag... hahaha, good cunt. that guy is fucking awful (Pelican drummer, that is... Seldon Hunt is alright I guess...)
