15" basket replacement

Postby Dixon Cider A.C. » Mon Feb 18, 2013 11:39 pm

as predicted the sp15425 scorpion in my peavey 115 cabinet is open circuit. should i even bother replacing it with a BW or similar or should i just chuck the whole pain in the ass piece of shit out on the nature strip. seems like such a waste of a decent enclosure though. got chucked in with the head i bought a few months ago, been paired with it since day one by the looks. lasted halfway through the first song of the first practice.

anyway if it makes any difference the setup i use for the grindcore band im in goes like

jazz bass > rat > peavey mark vi > ????? > profit.

ideas/advice appreciated
mitch.

If the enclosure is fine then replace it. If you can find an EV 15" for not too much I'd go that way.

They are more of a PA speaker but Slayer use the 12" speakers in their 4x12s. They can go stupidly loud before the speaker starts to break up. Might not be what you're after but means you get better headroom.
