You would probably be happy with either, but most people prefer the thinner Jazz neck and I think it's easier to get a good overdrive tone with a Jazz than a P. Plus on a Jazz you roll off the bridge pickup it will sound almost like a P Bass.

j-bass is easier to begin with. P-bass has fat neck and is heavier

Don't know how you came to the weight conclusion, P basses aren't heavier in general it depends on the body wood.

go for an SX if cost is an issue, that SX P that nat had was a killah. i dig 'em.

And yes it was. It took fuk loads of beatings and always stayed in tune.

still reckon the difference would be negligble. if you have small girly hands you have no place playing bass.
