I'm looking for a USB-powered set of IR LEDs in a long tube or plastic bar.. something like this
http://thuanta.com/2007/07/23/wiisensorbar/

but USB powered and cheap, I could pick up the Wii version for about $10 but I don't wanna burn through batteries. I don't have any knowledge with electronics so I probably couldn't make one myself, and I don't have a solder either

help?

Most lighter sockets have a 15amp fuse....15amps at 12v gives 180Watts....

They exist: http://www.google.com/search?q=RoadPro% ... ch%20Maker

Or do this: http://www.wikihow.com/Cook-Food-on-Your-Car%27s-Engine :D
Carbecue cooking times are usually written in terms of miles, rather than minutes. Here are some examples from recipes found online:

- Shrimp: 30-50 miles
- Trout or Salmon: 60-100 miles
- Chicken breasts: 60 miles at 65 mph
- Chicken wings: 140-200 miles
- Pork tenderloin: 250 miles
- Sliced, peeled potatoes: 55 miles

Yeah nah? what part are you disputing? my math or how long till you die of starvation?
180Watts is less than one tenth the power a mains powered press provides... it'll take at least ten times as long to cook your food.

get these instead:

not practical, it needs to have two cooking plates, and is not for sandwiches.

i wasnt disputing the maths, i just couldnt be fucked explaining that i dont intend to run it thru the cig socket, but off purpose bought batteries that are charged from the alternator.

believe me, it needs to be a sandwich press just like the one in the picture, but not run off mains.

But your diesel engine isn't a generator and your alternator isn't designed to charge a bank of batteries...

Using fuel to create electricity then storing that electricity to create heat later makes no sense. Fuel is much better suited to storage than electricity.
The whole idea is kind of fucked up and super wasteful.
