GoTY '09
Start throwing in your calls and we can start some polling...
My choices seem to be dominated by franchise sequels.
Assassins Creed 2 - Fantastic story, probably the best from a game in years. Fixed nearly every fault with the first one.
Uncharted 2 - Among Thieves - Amazing viz, really well created set pieces. It was like playing a great action movie.
CoD: Modern Warfare 2 - Decent if not erratic story, great addition with the spec ops mode. Only let down was some aspects of the MP compared to the first.
Batman Arkham Asylum - Best comic adaptation ever? Everything about what makes Batman so fucking slick.
Flower - Trippy as all hell. Get a laugh from whoever I explain it too who then proceed to lose their shit whilst playing it. Intuitive as on the control front.
Special mentions...
inFamous, Red Faction: Guerilla, DoW2, Killzone 2, Street Fighter 4

I want to say Uncharted 2, but I enjoyed it so much that I never want to play it again

Batman and Assassins Creed 2 are definitely contenders for me. I'm sure there's stuff I played earlier in the year that's slipping my mind though...
MW2 gets an honorable mention for presentation. single player was kinda whatevs storywise... way too much plot is fed to you through coms chatter in battles. Completely missed most of it.

jesus christ, did you only just realise Dave Dobbyn looks like a hobbit who's had the One Ring in his possession a little too long?

Re: GoTY '09
Assassin's Creed II - My pick for GoTY
Modern Warfare 2 for the multiplayer, game play on single player was great but the storyline was fucked.

The basis for the whole Russian Invasion.
Makarov was a well known Russian terrorist who doesn't wear a balaclava when he shoots up airports.
A dead American is found at the scene of said massacre and all the blame is put on him (and America) you would think security footage would be fairly well examined showing that Makarov (a Russian) was behind the attack.
Instead, an American agent is blamed who is found at the scene shot execution style right in the head.
Don't get me wrong, I fucking loved the game play the holes in the story is easily forgotten.

I assumed if Makarov had the resources to get into the airport with over 100kg worth of guns/ammo/armor and an airport blueprint, he probably had also taken out the cams. Also an ultra nationalist working with the CIA.. C'mon that shit is gold.
Re: GoTY '09
The bullet that is brought up as a 3D image then traced to Rojas in Brasil was taken from security footage.

Re: GoTY '09
I really wanted to choose inFamous seeing as it's the first game I've liked enough to actually play the amount I did to get a Platinum but I'm still playing SF4 about three nights a week and it's been out for 8-9 months sp I think I'll have to go with that. Hell I'll probably be playing it until Super Street Fighter 4 comes out

Re: GoTY '09
I voted MW2 for that reason, its getting heaps of use at my place. Would of voted for DOW2 but the MP community has died a little bit so it doesnt really get played a whole lot anymore
