Anyone play Pinball?

Postby Spots2012 » Wed Jul 15, 2009 6:48 pm

I like it aye.

The video shop as the creature from the lagoon, must be quite an old machine, but works pretty well, just a couple of the target lights are a bit dim. Quite a hard game (no ball save), quite simple. Fun.

Love pinball, picked up Zen Pinball recently on PSN... nice effort but not the same of course.
I guess you really need to ask yourself... What Would Graeme Do?

If anyone was ever selling the Guns N Roses pinball machine I'd be so fucking there. Pinball is good fun, better source of drunken entertainment than the pokies.

What I like about PB is it's high stimulation and based on real physics - kinda like 'real' computer games.

Anyone played the Family Guy pinball? It was at Timezone Manners Mall. - It's got this crazy Stewie Miniball - with mini flippers and miniballs (about marble sized) - fukn crazy - super fast action.

$2 a game tho, bit steep.

Sure. Fair enough correction. shoulda said 'using real physics'.

The physics are an essential part of the game - monopoly is IRL, as well, but the physics are essential (well, actually you could say that actually monopoly is an abstract game and that the board is just a physical representation of the abstract....)

No. The physics is a moot point.

What makes real pinball way cooler than virtual pinball is that it's 'real' [so far tautological statement] - What makes 'real' things cool, is that the 'rules' (physics) are set by God as such.

Well yeah, there's more genuine randomness. Problem (and also what's good) - about computer simulation is that everything is 'sterile'. The real pinball is affected by the proximity of the moon and all that...

You mean this point?

you didnt really need to say anything, as its in real life, so real physics is kinda implied

or that I mentioned God? - God's just a philosophical tool.

They physics based hyperstimulation (hmmm 'physics based' seems right there) - is what is about. Also - that though it's in real life - the actual physical interaction by the person is minimal, just pressing two buttons. Problem with pool and the like is that you've got to be physically coordinated.

No way. Mainly I'm just identifying what makes pinball so cool. Ie, what is it that make's it different to computer games (physics), board games (hyperstimulation)....

Especially about the hyperstimulation - aren't youse into hyperstimulation too?

I'll concede that the god part was a bit odd. Could have mentioned a better board game I suppose.

Stop using words you clearly have no understanding of.

i just googled hyperstimulation and got a page full of results for 'ovarian hyperstimulation' - i suspect i'd be into that... but really, what the fuck are you talking about?

the reason pinball is good is because of the tactile response... for example - the physical clunking of the solenoids, the feel of the ball bouncing off the flippers and the fact that you can nudge the table to save your ball if you don't suck. it has nothing to do with any of your hippy shit.

stfu Aidan, or start actually engaging w me. - Ie in this case, tell me which words I don't have understanding of, and what demonstrates that non-understanding.

Words like physics, and hyperstimulation, and trying to say that the moon has relevent effect on your pinball game. I mean seriously, do you actually think about what you are writing? If so, it would appear that you have suffered a brain injury of some sort.

I think my use of 'physics' is fairly correct here - I'm referring to the rules the govern our physical (*real*) lives.

Moon - yes the effect is negligible- but my point was more than there is genuine randomness (which is caused by things like the moon, and everything else, probably dust and like more than anything).

Hyperstimulation- figured youse would get my meaning - I mean the very fast, indepth, layered? mental stimulation that you get from things like fast music, computer games, etc.
