Black Heart Infoshop: is a new radical infoshop, op-shop and community space that has recently opened at 543 Karangahape Rd, Newton Auckland. We stock zines, books, music, patches, leaflets etc. It is also a anarchist social space used to meet people, find out about events, host small events e.g.. acoustic shows and skill sharing workshops.

Black Heart is run by an open collective of around 12 people who make all the decisions about the space and open the shop up everyday.

We are open from 10am-5pm Monday-Friday and 11am-5pm Saturday and Sunday

We always need donations of books, zines, clothes, op-shop type stuff, tea, coffee, soy milk, money and volunteers. So if you can bring us any of these just pop in during opening time.

I've always wondered, how do they think society is going to be run, when most of them can't even run a collective for more than 6 months or so without it all ending in tears?

So far we have hosted: A couple of benefit shows (one for refugee nz), We have had some shared dinners, we have had discussion nights on creating radical social spaces, on integrating direct action into daily life and one just generally on peoples different ideas on anarchism.

We also host a space to just exist away from from capitalism and away from all the general oppressions of daily life. We have helped many people down on their luck, given them support and directed them to organizations that can give more continual support. We sell secondhand clothes and goods for really cheap and give heaps away for free, many people around k-rd really appreciate this effort as there is nowhere in the area to access cheap and free clothes. This is just the beginning of our endeavors of creating a practical beginnings of a different more fair, more desirable world we are all part of.

I understand this is punkas but i fail too see why there is a need to pick this space apart bit by bit, we are certainly not perfect and we are open to all-sorts of general criticism and really into talking about and working out practical ways to make our space more accessible and welcoming to everyone.

just posting to retract my earlier comments, i met the bleak heat collective peoples and they were choice as dewds and not crazy omar and valerie type insane fascists like i had unfairly assumed.

black heart, if and when it gets back on its feet, deserves all of the supports, i found them to be very genuine and positive people, with none of the banarchist vibe, cheers for the use of your couch guys!
