new BK veggie burger isnt veggie

Postby xCaptainx » Wed Aug 04, 2010 1:07 pm

Probably of no suprise to most knowledgable people out there, but anywho...

BK just released a new mexican veggie burger. Turns out the pattie is cooked in the same oil as all of their chicken on site.

Needless to say, it's nowhere near vegetarian, or 'pure vegetarian' as the lady on the phone said

Anywho, ethics of BK aside, I figured some veggies out there would find this heads up useful.

Wouldn't most deep fried veggie food be cooked in the same oil as meat - eg fish n chip shops etc? Or is BK oil not veggie oil?

depends really Pert. I know Burger Fuel are really up to speed with catering towards vege/vegans. They have seperate deep fat fryers and pattie presses for their vegan/non meat options.

also pretty sure BK oil is veggie oil, the original point was that the veggie burger is deep fried in exactly the same deep fat fryer as their chicken.

Is this the one with the sort of oval shaped patty with peas and corn in it?

If so, it's not very good. A bit shit, even. I'm sticking to my whopper no beef with onion rings and extra cheese. Deliciously terrible.

[cool story bro]I ordered one of those in Courtney Place ages ago and couldn't work out why the staff out back were looking over and giving me weird looks and it wasn't until I was down the road and unwrapping my burger that I realised that the poor foreign wage slave at the counter had somehow misinterpreted my request for extra cheese to mean 6 slices.[/cool story bro]

I have no idea to be honest. I saw someone mention a new vege burger on facebook and was curious to find out if it was true, and if it was actually vege/vegan/whatever. I havent tried or seen it myself.

It's the el beano, so yeah, some kind of bean, corn and stuff patty. They brought out a couple 'mexican' burgers, that one and the meat version which is the same thing with a meat patty too.

Hmmm...might be different to the one over here then. Or it's the same patty with different seasoning. Average as. Bit of a losing battle expecting a remotely tasty vege burger from a chain when you factor in that it will be fumbled together by some poor teen wage slave who probably makes one a month.

tried that new 'vege' patty last night in a Texican (which combines it with a beef patty).

Pretty boring taste, whoppers are better.
