Vegetarian Resturants

Postby Alorria » Fri Feb 27, 2009 7:28 pm

One of my daughters is vegetarian, (for the oh I don't like to hurt animals reason).

Does anyone know of a good, but inexpensive resturant in Wellington to take the family out to for her 14 birthday?

Rest of the family isn't vegetarian, but will happily eat vegetarian meals.

You could also try Higher Taste in the Old Bank Arcade on Lambton Quay. They're a Hare Krishna resturant who serve vegetarian/vegan food buffet style. Not really my thing, but your daughter might like it.

aunty menas has okay food yeah but fuck its an ugly dump.

If you want to go to a nice restaurant you gotta go to something like red tomato. It aint a vege only place as such but tonnes of vegetarian options.

rabid blind support from vegans for a vegan restaurant, regardless of how it tastes or how long it takes.

They've always been very quick and tasty for me. It's one of the highlights of going to Wellington, for me.

This isn't "rabid blind support". This is just genuinely liking a place's food, thinking they provide great, friendly, polite service, and promptly. It's a bit more expensive than Fortune up here, but I can live with that. It's great stuff.

Maybe they just knew you were a shit cunt and treated you accordingly?

hruh yeh, excellent, so clever, i see why you became a lawyer.

its a pretty average kind of place, its pretty sweet if youre vegan cos the whole menu is, but they really REALLY dont do anything special, all the best stuff on the menu is available at the nearest asian supermarket, if you want fake meat have a fuckin barbeque.

in the context of reccomending a nice restaurant to eat out at especially for a mixed group of dietary requirements, aunty menas is a terrible option.

any indian restaurant has veg options... most places do, it is wellington after all.

Its for the vegetarian's birthday though, so I wanted the event to reflect her preferences, rather than the rest of the families...after all, we have normal food, and go out to places with one or two veggie options on the menu the other 364 days of the year....so just this once, I think we can compromise and make it about her.

Which is why I asked ppl who enjoy the same sort of food she does - as they'd know better than I would what she would like.

well ive never had anything awesome there, only good thing ive had is those chicken drumsticks which you can get anywhere, but some people rave about them like they are a menas specialty.

i dunno, i just think that place is overrated... sorry.

Yeah, very often. Good, healthy feeds. Their servings used to be very small, but they've improved recently. I find their Indian curries a bit bland, but like their Thai stuff.

Make sure you get onto their email list for discount vouchers. Otherwise, it can be very expensive.
