I've had shit like that happen a lot. You know how sometimes people will order one of the vegetarian pizzas from Hell and ask to have chicken on it? I ordered a vegetarian pizza and they decided to put chicken on it anyway. Didn't notice until I'd taken a bite out of it (it was in a dark pub).

Worst thing I've ever had was a piece of glass in a burrito 8O

i totally don't understand why its fashionable but i have definitely noticed that.

holier-than-thou

im no celiac but i get acid guts from too much gluten especially in bread, maybe other people just dont want to eat something thats not good for them as well?

i know when i was vege i used to often claim i was vegan even tho i wasnt just so i didnt have to explain that i didnt want cheese eggs or mayo either.

Recieved a letter from one of the people at BP with a $10 BP voucher and 4 Stamped "Wild Bean Cafe" coffee cards.

I wonder if the other guy will also send me something.

You won :D

In Holland people had a really hard time understanding what vegetarian means. It seems it's not so common over there or something. The 'vegetarian' option often has chicken or fish in it. And when you try and explain it, they don't get it. Real weird

Well, I got a result and hopefully made them more aware of different diets. Here's hoping it won't happen to anyone else.
Turns out the 4 Wild Bean vouchers expire 31st December 2008, so I've got to drink them pretty fast.

Yeah, I recently returned from Europe and the UK and from my experience in Europe, being vegetarian was really peculiar to them. I ate a lot of pizza when they didn't speak English because it was easier to spot whether a pizza had meat on it then trying to explain what I meant.

I continued on my way to Auckland but after taking a few bites into the pie I noticed that I didn't taste any vegetables. Turns out it was a chicken pie that had been put in the wrong place.
I spat it out and threw it out the window of my car (nearly vomited), but couldn't be bothered back tracking as I still had a long drive ahead of me.

I think its pretty clear here what Phil is asking you.

When you bought pizza in europe, and they accidently gave you meat, did you pick the meat off, or did you ask for another pizza?

I figured he meant it was easier to spot on the pictures of the pizza when ordering...like they have in Dominoes etc....so you can just point to what you want.

What I meant by this post was:
The reason I ordered pizza was because it was easier to judge pizza was vege-friendly rather then trying to speak a foreign language to order a vegetarian meal.

And I didn't have any issues with food while I was in Europe.

this really wasnt that important.
a simple 'no, it wasnt an issue' would ghave sufficed.

I've been served vege stuff with shrimps in it a few times- which not only sucks if you are vego, but also sucks cos I am really allergic to crustaceans. Sometimes people arn't just being fussy hippies, they just don't want to drop dead in the resturant! New Zealand food places need to get a bit more onto it.

Yep - I traveled 10 countries in Europe for 5 weeks in Sep/Oct, ate in the most killer vegetarian/vegan resturants.. happycow.com + google maps before you go = easy as.

'Clear Head' Vegetarian/Vegan resturant in Prague was the highlight:

But yeah, like said above, when having diffuculty, pizza was the easiest, and hitting the supermarket.

Didnt get served meat in anythign once.

I wish we had decent pizza here, and an Eritrean/Ethiopian restaurant, I'm almost drooling just thinking about it!

Anybody else have trouble getting vegetarian food in Japan?

I went up to Burgerfuel on Christmas eve, but it was closed, so was forced to go to McDonalds. Went to the counter and asked

"Do you do a vege burger or something?"
"We only do a vege deli roll, it's got lettuce, tomato and mayo on it"
"Sweet, I'll have one of those"

I get it, take it home, and it has a massive fuck off piece of greasy bacon in it
