Then I think you should ditch the holier-than-thou attitude and telling people that they're hypocrites until you're in a position to sling mud without looking silly.

Telling people what to do in the first place is kind of stink...

but the fact that you don't even practice what you're telling people to do (ie because your not even vegan), is pretty ridiculous. And highly hyprictical.

you're telling people to be perfect vegans, when you yourself realise how hard it can be (and if its so easy why aren't you vegan already?).

 what ever. The product wasn't the point, it was the tone of the post.

Although people should try and avoid supporting such companies there are SO many other shit things out there related to the mistreatment of animals (or what ever other 'ethical' life styles people adhere to), that in my mind calling people up on being a hypocrite (especially a fairly insignificant product like oreos) makes you look like a bit of a jerk.....especially when you yourself are far from perfect.

to make myself a little clearer

what part of an Oreo was tested on animals...
what other products does proctor and gamble make that people regularly eat...
How many other companies are owned by cunty umbrella corporations
how often do people use animal tested drugs
how often do people eat vegan food produced by companies that make non vegan food...

basically what I'm saying is calling someone up on eating an oreo is STUPID, when compared to all the other things that the both of you consume every day which is some how related to animal cruelty.

I dont consume things on a daily basis that are related to animal cruelty, surely we should be trying to limit and cut out as much as we can giving our $to companys that torture animals ,is that so hard to understand,i dont know why you would take this as such a personal attack,i think your full of shit

I dont think Pert needed the simplification. You seem to have missed his point.
He's probably the least full of shit person on this forum.

I realise that. But have you ever sat on a piece of wooden furniture? Have you used gas in the last 6 months? They both use Tallow which is largely animal fat. To stop using products without animal cruelty is almost impossible. Like Pert stated the amount of "vegan" or "vegetarian" food producers that are owned by much larger companies committing atrocities is quite large. I think at the end of the day it comes down to harm minimization.

yeah cheers ninja

I totally understand why people shouldn't eat oreos, and I agree with you. That isn't what I'm trying to say at all.

you obviously haven't read what I've written at all boot girl, but here goes one more time.

The only thing I had a problem with was the fact you’d bother calling someone a hypocrite as, although justified, it is a bit pointless when you take into consideration how many other things people consume/purchase/use that someway was involved with harming animals.

It also becomes even more ridiculous when you take into consideration other morals people have (human welfare/environmental etc) and how many more products now make them hypocrites.

Fuck it you probably didn't even mean your initial post to be read as I read it, and its now boiled down into a stupid internet argument.

if youre trying to avoid animal cruelty eating oreos is retarded, even if they are technically vegan, claiming them as vegan is missing the point of veganism.

the hypocrisy call was entirely fair enuff, just like it would be if someone remined me that im not even vegetarian.

Good for you phil, as it turns out I never said she was wrong, I said it was pointless and stupid (because it's such a redundant call). Your contribution to this discussion has been fantastic.

Sorry for ruining the sticky thread guys

Yeah Nabisco products are even given the big tick on the PETA website http://www.peta.org/accidentallyVegan/VeganShoppingQS-Snacks.asp?Category=Snacks

Although they are also a big tobacco company so I'm guessing there is some issues surrounding that.

This place tells me that Mi Goreng Satay noodles are not vegan (or even vegetarian!), which makes me wonder whether or not the other flavours contain animal-stuff :-(

They probably do...
Lame aye? I was practically living on them at one stage before I found out about the whole chicken stock shit.

Anyway, in regards to vegan hair products, Delorenzo products are awesome. Pretty pricey, though, but really good quality. Normally sold in salons but I purchase mine on Trademe when someone occasionanally lists a bunch of products for a lot cheaper than retail price.

SO LAME! I was eating 'em almost everyday for AGES (my favourite poor-ass-student food) before I found out.

Nong Shim hot & spicy instant noodles are pretty good though.
