it's pretty satisfying too. especially after getting about a dozen stings in one go after accidentally walking into a nest of them in the bush. i hate them passionately, when they're established in the beech forests here all you can hear when in the bush is wasps buzzing all over the beech trees and no birds.

i reckon it's worth keeping half an eye out for nests all the time, they're pretty prolific and will be trying to establish new nests around now.

my friend the chef reckons if you boil shit always pour a bit of salt in as it makes the water more dense therefore keeping nutrients and flavour in.

works.

I like almost every vegetable better raw, anyway. I mean, probably not lentils or potatoes, but I still don't see why so many people boil broccoli and cauliflower and carrots etc.. make them taste like shit and make them less nutritious..

pretty OT.

it's plausable, but I suspect the more flavoursome vegies is due to the extra salt...

I found a recipe for veggie and lentil stew but it came out pretty plain. What should I use for flavour?

I ended up cutting up some veggie sausages that I'd done in the fry pan and mixing them in. That was real yum. They were the bean supreme ones.

Heres one I made up the other day....

Take one cup of cooked brown lentils. Make sure they are well drained, then mash up with a potato masher. Don't use a blender or else they'll go too mushy. Mix in 1 tsp soy sauce and 1 heaped tsp paprika. Take one small onion or half a large one and slice really thinly, then slice the thin slices into little bits. Keep slicing it until it's in really tiny little bits. Mix in with the lentils along with 2 Tbsp yeast flakes, a pinch of salt and 1 Tbsp olive (or other) oil. Mix it all together by hand then put in a sealable container.
Spread it on sandwiches or toast, it works quite well on top of marmite or peanut butter.
