why do vegan's eat 'chicken' nuggets and fake beef?? doesn't it contradict the whole vegan lifestyle?? why don't they call the food by what they actually are made of??
i guess i'm saying i think it sounds wrong to call vegan foods after meat products. A good friend of mine who is strict vege says the food has meat flavour any way....seems odd to me. Can anyone shed any light on the fake meat sitch? Thanks :)

I don't get the way people are always like "Why do Vegans eat fake meat?"
Is it part of a dead animal.. No..
Does any part of it come from an animal.. Generally no..
So why shouldn't they? How does it contradict the vegan lifestyle. It'd be like a straightedger drinking non-alcholic beer (well, similar.. Because non-alcholic beer often has a TINY percentage of alchol in it, but you get what I mean)

For most Vegans/Vegetarians it's all about not eating dead animals, for various reasons. Fake meat has nothing to do with dead animals.

I liked the taste of meat, so I'd love to find some good fake meats.
And about the name, it's got fake infront of it.. and that's what it is.. it was designed to be fake meat.. so why is that a problem if it's called that?

it sounds like it defeats the whole purpose of being vege........you like the taste of meat....but you don't eat it...you eat somthing that TASTES like meat?! I'm confused. It depends on your reasoning behind not eating meat anyway......of course.

if it's not meat - why does it matter what it tastes like?

i am vegan, but i aint vegan coz i dont like the taste of meat..
so yeh.. my reasoning etc.. so i guess it doesnt defeat the purpose for a lot of vegans/vegetarians..

Veg Roasted Sausage. I am addicted. Great for vege sausage roll.
Kransky's are the thing I miss most about not eating red meat, and this is as close as I can get.

My favourite thing about that bacon is how they put little white bits of 'fat' into it. Amusingly realistic.

Only problem is you have to freeze-store it, so if you want to use it like sandwich ham I guess you'd have to put it in the sandwich frozen in the morning or something. Then I suspect you'd end up with a soggy lunch. Never tried it but this is my hypothesis.

Who says? I keep mine in the fridge. Stays good for quite a while. But yeah, you want to fry it first for a sandwich, same as real bacon.
