Alita: Battle Angel This film appropriately transform manga to film. The art direction and visuals are stunning, and the characters are well-developed. The actors/voices are great. But the story seems somewhat forced at times. Overall, this is very likeable. https://www.prime1studio.com/media/catalo...

Ip Man Legacy - fantastic fight scenes with Tony Jaa, Michelle Yeoh and Dave Bautista.
Bumblebee - probably the first Transformers movie which get the transformation right on film.

Went to see the advanced screening of the new Suspiria
It borrows the basic plot from Dario Argento's orginal classic, but it is essentially more of a re-imagine than a remake.

Just watched Spielberg's Ready Player One on the big screen.
This is a visual treat, full of gaming nostalgia, but characters lack any real depth/development
Has anyone seen the new Romper Stomper series? Is it good?

Re: NZ election 2017
I'd prefer most things over Winston Peters. What a shit outcome. Greens had slightly less votes than NZ First, but it seems they failed to achieve a similar degree of policy wins or influence as NZ First in the negotiations. It seems like you have to be a deceitful and manipulative operator to get a...

I'm quite attracted to TOP's principled approach to policy, and I think they would add some diversity in Parliament, so I might vote them.

Re: Auckland Local Election
In terms of Mayor, Phil Goff is tipped to win, since apparently no one else has any real 'name recognition'. I can't see much difference in Phil Goff and Len Brown in their approach, so it looks like business as usual, except Phil Goff can be more dignified in public and in office... I'm pretty sure...

Auckland Local Election
Fellow Aucklanders, who are you voting for, and why? Most mayoral candidates are lacklustre, inept, lacking in grammar, or just plain delusional about what can be achieved as a Mayor. I'm considering voting Chloe Swarbrick for Mayor, simply because she's young, writes well, appears entrepreneurial, ...

I've been unemployed for about a month. For the first time in a long time, I've been able to potter around, and I've watched quite a few TED Talks. Not sure if anyone else is a fan. These are my favourites so far. Anyone else with TED Talk recommendations? https://www.ted.com/talks/brene_brown_on_vu...
