Re: Tasmania... anyone been. Wheres good?

I missed seeing Penguin itself and missed stopping for any of Tassie's big things. Did see a lobster and cherry of mildly amusing sizes and the 'cosmic egg' in St Helens, but I haven't really done it properly have I? Nice and generous burgers at the general store/petrol station in Yolla (on Murchiso...

Re: fully sick shoes

https://i.imgur.com/qNoBsqd.jpg Got these Merrell hiking shoes which seem solid, effectively replacing some Asics running shoes which lasted me 12½ years. Pretty much clocked buying shit that lasts, apart from the Florsheim fail mentioned above which was my attempt at having something remotely rese...

Re: Tasmania... anyone been. Wheres good?

Russell Falls was an easy detour into Mount Field National Park an hour west of Hobart. Another we ogled was Leven Canyon (inland from Penguin). Kinda need the bars in the photo to hint at how far down it is. Good thing I diddle around with my camera as much as actually looking at shit. It's wallet-...

That's quite an understatement considering many living bodies are not working particularly smoothly either. Mine is deadset fucked in bizarre ways.

Re: Tasmania... anyone been. Wheres good?

We spent a few nights on the east coast. Didn't do a lot but liked clambering around on the rocks in Bicheno. Now in Launceston for 3 nights before going home. I don't mind a deadbeat rural pub but me mum and sister wouldn't be so keen. I do like avoiding talking to people though. ;) The majority of...

Re: Tasmania... anyone been. Wheres good?

Done the usual stuff in the west of Tassie, waterfalls and forests accessed via train, road or boat and not too much walking. Made it out alive with my flesh intact and on the north coast now. Nice and generous burgers at the general store/petrol station in Yolla (on Murchison Highway) for $7.50 and...

https://i.imgur.com/3RN38K5.jpg Boxing Day turned out to be a good day to visit Port Arthur, with the annual woodchop carnival giving us a glimpse of these real life Big Lez units tearing into their logs like they were choomah mugs. Also went to MONA in Hobart and had a laugh at some of the ridicul...

Re: Tasmania... anyone been. Wheres good?

Aussie computer systems plus Melbourne domestic terminal is a recipe for a nightmare. Eventually crossed over to the simpler life though and we all met up. Feels a bit like entering an episode of LOST.

The way we go all gaga over a murder victim if she's young, white, pretty, rich, and a tourist, but don't give a fuck if she's a Maori from South Auckland. She was already all over Facebook before they knew she was dead. It was as much about her going missing from central Auckland where everyone go...

Hitler had an abnormal sex life and was obviously munted in the head somehow. He'd probably be leading the incels today.

Never been before but my family is converging in Tassie on the 22nd for Xmas 'n' shit. Doing a whirl of a trip around the pubic-shaped isle so will try and post about the non-naff sights. Going AirNZ on the 1st leg so if they could pay employees a decent wage that'd be swell: https://www.stuff.co.nz...

Re: punkas dream journal.

Today's dream: some performer is on stage at a small bar when news filters in about a close friend of Bono committing suicide, which is relevant as supposedly U2 is playing a concert here the next night. Then there's one car following another, one of which is a white Mustang, a scenario lifted out o...

Same ones are still around. Alien Records moved to a new location 2 years ago. Seems to have less stock out but also tidier, but then I haven't looked that closely as I basically just go there for gigs.

Re: What have you recently watched?

So I finally got round to watching Mulholland Drive. Did not expect it to be really, really shit. An incoherent screenplay is not stimulating or inventive storytelling. Mulholland Dr is the ideal exception to that rule. The plot's only slightly-below-the-surface incoherent so you only need to make ...

Re: Awesome Shit Thread.

From other kids in my year at high school who recognised that my pasty skin resembles a corpse. I'm 34 but I don't look much different to what I did when I was 24, and I was immature then. It's become an alter ego related to making noise music and the batshit crazy journey of my past self to get to ...

A larger sphere costs more and takes longer to vacuum. Plus, given that Australian wildlife is typically louder than NZ wildlife, you can assume that an extended sphere will just teach kids to screech louder to compensate.
