Re: Lords of Chaos

Haven't read the book but thought the movie was alright, enjoyed it. The portrayal of Øystein/Euronymous' personality was the biggest inaccuracy. Sure he was a hypocritical idiot, but my understanding is that he really was also even more of an insufferable arsehole than Varg at the time. But you get...

Geez, I went a bit easy here. This show sticks in my mind as one of the few that struggled to meet expectations. Yeah, the last 3 songs were great, but the first 7 songs and the crowd standing like statues had me pretty bored.

Man buys 4 stools at Kmart for $160. His wife thinks they aren't up to scratch so she takes them back to the mall to swap them with a cafe's stools, and the security guard helps her:

Here's a pic of Wattie from '81 that appears to show some blue on the sleeve. But to be more punk than a show feat. Mike Puke I reckon you'd need to get a job involving painting things blue and 'accidentally' splash it all over your sleeve, maybe in a couple of different shades for the mismatch bonu...

She got her little reward with a 60/40 split in favour of the left thanks to her handling of COVID. But normally things are much closer to 50/50, so I could see a CGT sending enough voters over to National to ensure it just gets reversed in the next term. Average voter age is close to 50. The time o...

How about Spotify playlists? I put New Zealand Experimental, Gothic and Weird together. If you wanna listen to it in order for free you can at least do that on desktop.

I dreamt I was on an indoor basketball court holding a hollowed-out pumpkin. I needed to take a dump, so I took it outside and let loose in it. Then a big tall basketball player came outside with some sort of plastic bag and took a dump in that. I was quite proud of my superior biodegradable solutio...

I watched Color Out of Space and thought it was great. And in moments when it wasn't so great, ol' Nic Cage was at least giving me some good laughs.

Re: Things that are awesome , (e.g Sam's "XXX" tattoo which he isnt getting defensive about at all)

Hopefully everything is okay. 2020 is the year my allergies lost control a bit. Eczema and insomnia got worse again, tried avoiding conditioner most of the time and 2/3 of my hair fell out in a short space of time. Got a medication to take long term now, just needed lungs checked before I can take ...

Completely packed live show in Wellington last night seeing Stälker, people crowdsurfing and everything. It really feels like living in some sort of Twilight Zone compared to almost every other country.

Not exactly clear, but first time I've seen the septal occluder inside my heart on x-ray (right side of pic), pretty funky.

Looks like only part of this text made it into this thread, so here, have the full thing: Cruel, cold and perverse, Molest The Episcopate employ a lurid, libertine approach to aggressive death metal. Formed in Auckland, New Zealand in early 2010, the quintet fuse blistering blast rhythms, serrated t...

I checked out a few clips of her, just not my vibe. Will keep it in my mind as something to watch in another decade or with someone else though.

As far as older films go, I can't think of any actresses who've topped Ingrid Bergman in Notorious for me. Sassy as.

Re: What have you recently watched?

Yeah, I mean I dig most of the elements you listed, and if a film is slow and atmospheric then it should be extremely long - 2 hours becomes too short for much to happen. But for me, the dialogue and events that unfold in slow films need to be really damn intriguing ( Stalker is probably the perfect...

Yesterday was my first time in a scenario where I had to wear a mask as I got a chest x-ray. I went in a few mins early but they dealt with me nice and quickly. Poor woman operating the machine said the patients often come in and cough right on her. I failed at keeping the mask completely on while p...

I'd never seen a film from Mr Leone so I watched The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. I enjoyed the style of it and the depiction of the absurdity of war, but didn't get a whole lot else out of it. Some of the other stuff that happens is alright but not a whole lot of stuff happens. I guess westerns are...

Re: Recommend jazz for people who don't like jazz

I'd forgotten about this thread. Since I started digging deeply to find any pre-1966 music that I like at all, I discovered that I quite like some old vocal jazz. Quite a relief compared to actual jazz, being more in the direction of the pop of its time. Just like with newer music, I'm really picky ...

A certain Tauranga-based drummer infamously saw No Tag play and then fell asleep and missed Dead Kennedys back in the day. :baton:

I've also seen Eight Living Legs play some lowkey gigs in Auckland lately. They were another band that supported DK that weekend.
