Re: TVNZ political debate

I gave it to Goff, but the almost pointless 75c txt poll gave it to Key. Really didn't like TVNZ cutting back to the 'commentators'. Fucked me off no end, I didn't want to hear what they had to think, I wanted to hear from the leaders. It was interesting to hear some debate around policies rather t...

Re: Anyone NOT voting on principal?

Something interesting crossed my mind earlier which spurred this thread. What if people were going out nationwide and putting up massive "DON'T VOTE" posters or even running a television campaign? NOT voting shows a lack of faith in the system, if enough people don't vote, the vote doesn'...

Re: GET UP KIDS THIS THURS - VENUE CHANGE & TWO-4-ONE TIX

I really enjoyed this show. The Get Up Kids played really well, the setlist included most of my favourites and as noted above, it was rad to meet them at the merch desk right after they finished. I was probably expecting to see just a few more faces from the old days at this show, but meh, it was a ...

You forgot to mention the US is waging a financial attrition war on the Swiss banking regimes, try to track the last 20yrs of tax evasion to dig their economy out of the shitter. The hilarious thing is, this is being spearheaded by the liberal democrats using NY's seat. This could potentially mean ...

Re: Dominion Rd = Chinatown?

Fuck yeah. Dominion Rd rules. Went to some amazing dumpling joint a while ago that was real bleak and commie as. Did not feel welcome at all. Had to ask if we could sit down because we were being ignored. Took forever for someone to take our order because regulars were coming in and they were being...

Re: Protests Against Royal Family Silenced by Pre-Emptive Ar

Not that I'm all that keen on the Monarchy, but while I'm busy getting fucked, could someone identify for me a republic where the supreme 'elected' power didn't go to the richest or most militarily connected candidate? While the Windsor spectacle seems a little absurd in an age where we hold them to...

Leigh show was cool, I had a great time. Don't know his music too well yet, but I recognized a fair few songs and some of the stuff I hadn't heard left me keen to hear more.

Also goddamn the guy can smoke ciggies at one hell of a pace.

Also, F. William Engdahl's analysis of US aims and intentions. As per usual, a nicely referenced article. Friedman's work is often flawed due to his lack of skepticism about capitalism and US power (being ex CIA and everything); Engdahl has no such qualms: Egypt’s Revolution Creative destruction for...

The angle I've mostly been following on this is the dynamic between Sunni oiligarchies coming up against the ever more numerous Shia masses, with the underlying struggle for influence and power in the Muslim world between Saudi Arabia and Iran. Here are some of the more interesting reports I've seen...

Saw them a few times '96-'97. Last time I remember seeing them would have been with Snuff and Nofx at Powerstation. I can't imagine the music would have aged well, but it was good for the time & nobody else I knew of was doing that style in Auckland.

I say it every time the debate comes up; Don't party vote Crips or Bloods. Waiting to see what comes of Hone H before I decide. A new left party would be good- I used to back the Alliance, but the post '01 revival seems so far to be characterized by a total charisma/common sense bypass. As much as I find Shia mobs a little off-putting with their Seth Putnam-esque attitudes to women, gays etc, nobody has it coming like the House of Saud. I'll pay extra for imports just to see a few of them swing from the lamp posts of Mecca.
