Re: Muammar Gaddafi is fucking awesome.

Yeah, he's not without flaws, but he's relatively benign for a dictator. And he actually seems to care about his people. For example, did you know that Libya is now the richest country in Africa?

Re: Muammar Gaddafi is fucking awesome.

It actually wouldn't be such a bad idea moving to Libya for a while. You can make TONS of money teaching English on oil rigs. Next year maybe.

Re: Inglourious Basterds.

I thought it was a good film, probably Tarantino's best. It's easy, and often justified, to talk shit about Tarantino, but I think everything came together nicely here. The acting was good, the story was compelling, the dialogue was clever. Mostly though I really enjoyed all the film nerd type stuff...

Bad ass, phaedrus. Sounds like you've got it figured out. Along with Kev, you have reassured me quite a bit. Does this mean we no longer get the discuss the merits of socialism or capitalism, whilst you describe how you're going to send me to "the depths" with your "nigger fist"...

Can one permanently avoid paying back a student loan?

Me and a friend were wondering this the other day. Surprisingly, the Studylink website doesn't answer this question. Maybe someone on Punkas might be able to help, I thought to myself. Is it possible to "indefinitely delay" making any payments to your student loan - specifically, by never ...

Swine flu, renamed under pork-lobby pressure to "influenza A (H1N1) virus, human," and referred to as "killer Mexican flu" by anti-immigration activists, had infected 985 people, or 0.0000145 percent of the world's population. Twenty countries reported infections; one death from...

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control declared a public-health emergency over an outbreak of swine flu that has infected at least 20 people in California, Kansas, New York, Ohio, and Texas. The virus is believed to have originated in Mexico City, where more than 149 people, all aged between 20 and 4...

EDITED The Department of Justice released four Office of Legal Counsel memos, issued in 2002 and 2005, to address CIA concerns that interrogation methods used on some high-level Al Qaeda members in custody were torture. Besides waterboarding, stress positions, slapping, and face-grabbing, the memos ...

Actually I don't really think these are real AC titles. They seem too self-parodic and lack the surprising sophistication we have come to expect from Anal Cunt.

Woah! I'm surprised, and a bit sad. Though he's obviously guilty. I recommend everyone read a book called Tearing down the Wall of Sound: the Rise and Fall of Phil Spector.

Yeah, I went and saw Silent Light . I guess I could pretty confidently call it a masterpiece. You've seen it on DVD, right? I noticed quite a significant Dreyer influence, the ending in particular reminded me of Ordet . I would like to see it again, as well as his other work. Superb cinematography. ...

First time I've paid attention to the news this week, turns out it's actually been quite eventful: On the sixth anniversary of Saddam Hussein's fall from power, tens of thousands of Iraqis loyal to cleric Muqtada al-Sadr protested the continued U.S. occupation. "When America came, they didn't d...
