Re: Red Dwarf series X - worryingly it looks bad

I thought the start of the first episode was pretty well below par, but it did pay off later. I think EP2 is funnier than EP1, but to be fair it would be a big ask for these guys to push the envelope using the old formula. Like every other bit of Red Dwarf that has trickled out over the years it'll ...

Re: Red Dwarf series X - worryingly it looks bad

First two episodes were alright, a little slow to get going, but that's to be expected. I think it's just another chapter in the Red Dwarf universe as it again evolves. I laughed.

The Muppets

If you're a fan of the Muppets, this is a return to form. A lot of the subtext seems like a big "fuck you" to Disney. Not least of all delivered by the chickens during the last act.

Re: black mirror (attn charlie brooker fans)

I've been trying to get this on NZ tv, so hopefully not too many people find out about the pig before seeing it. It really is genius and I'd like nothing more than for 'serious' viewers to be blown back in their seats. For anyone who hasn't watched it and can't wait for it to air, do check it out on...

A test win in Australia

Lost my shit all over the place yesterday. Frightened the cats, annoyed the neighbours and screamed myself hoarse. Unbridled happiness at beating Australia in Australia.

Re: Lowest voter turnout since 1880's

Does such a low voter turnout suggest our politicians aren't really in tune with what New Zealand wants? Also Labour lost a lot of ground outside of the big cities, it could be argued that they didn't do enough campaigning in those areas. I think there's been a psychosocial shift amongst the public ...

Re: Lowest voter turnout since 1880's

Apparently it's typical of a disenfranchised population who do not feel they have a voice in parliament and can be traced back to the wage gap. Here's a video on that which is very interesting http://www.ted.com/talks/richard_wilkinson.html While I recognize this as a major problem, I do not know if...

Lowest voter turnout since 1880's

Ok, so it was the lowest voter turnout since the 1880's, just 65%.

This despite a record number of enrolments and a record number of early votes cast.

SO, what happened? Anyone got some suggestions?

Magnetised jizz. Awesome.

It's funny how American the American's seemed to be. I'm surprised there wasn't gambling and hookers to go with their big rigs.

I've always wanted to go to Antartica, but mostly to make a movie about Penguins in the style of 'Grizzly Man'.

Re: Election & Referendum 2011

What a lot of people don't understand is that MMP will get a review anyway. A lot of people I've spoken to think we're voting to change the system. STV is the only other option that doesn't heavily favour the major parties. Be careful about voting early if you can cast a tactical vote. Anything coul...

Hey NZ!~ If you're on twitter, why not find out more about the USA trying to censor the internet. It's our old friends from the MPAA and RIAA (NZFACT and RIANZ in NZ) trying to lobby the US government with a bill called #SOPA. Search for that hashtag and read all about it, or perhaps ask why big com...

It highlights how slippery John Key really is. His core MO is being one hell of a bullshit artist. Everything he says is heavily orchestrated. He knows what people will ask him most of the time and has tactics prepared for when they do to deflect and corral the conversation away from the question. T...
