Re: Best/worst representation of being in a band on film
This is the best representation of a band in a film. You don't exist, and then suddenly you do! Also, singing is easy!

Sisters - Amy Poehler and Tina Fey get together for their crack at an odd-couple (sort of) comedy caper. I thought this was great, better than fucking Bridesmaids or any of that shit with Melissa McArthy (sp?). Heaps of great comedy side dudes and ladies fill out the background ensemble.

Making a Murderer - Jeezus. After Serial and The Jinx, this was yet another great true crime doco series. So many creepy True Detective vibes, with that touch of Wisconsin Fargoness. Still undecided about his guilt, some of the evidence omitted is pretty mega, though most of it still seems pretty c...

Holy shit, Courtney Barnett is the worst fucking music in the entire world. I feel like the whole world has taken a collective head injury over this one, like, you know it's terrible, right? It should not be encouraged.

Sicario - Fantastically shot, but ultimately unsatisfying flick from Denis Villeneuve of Prisoners and Enemy fame. Has a few things going for it, but my least favourite of his movies so far. Worth a look, just not much of a script. The Revenant - I really enjoyed this. Like a gritty reboot of Dead ...

The Southland Tales comparison is a good one. Latest episode has been a major improvement, though.

Hard out. Vince Vaughn is embarrassing to watch, and I'm pretty sympathetic to the man generally. Finally watching Seven Periods with Mr Gormsby, it is so fucking golden. Rick and Morty is back. First episode was great. Just watched all of Strange and Norrell, haven't read the book, really enjoyed t...

If you haven't watched the Mindy Project its pretty funny up until near the end of Season 2. Don't Trust the B in Apartment 23 was actually sorta funny as well, or maybe Krysten Ritter is just infinitely watchable. Not sure.

Anybody else feel like maybe Cary Fukunaga was the brains behind True Detective? This season has been pretty cringey so far, though I'll admit to be intrigued enough to continue regardless.

The Edge of Tomorrow - This was well dope. Tom Cruise made me not want to watch it, but he was fine, as usual when the film's up to snuff. The blockbuster final 10-15 minutes dragged it down a little, not that it was unexpected, just if they'd nailed the ending it'd be the best thing I've seen in a...

They Came Together - pretty silly rom-com spoof with Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler. Circles the bin pretty consistently, but due to the quality of the ensemble and writers it remains slightly better than your average Not Another Romantic Comedy type shit. Don't feel as though I can recommend it beyond ...

Re: Punkically correctly approach to Christmas
Looking forward to the second annual Die Hard Day on which we shall watch all of the Die Hards in reverse order, so that they improve throughout the day (though my feeling is that they peak at With A Vengeance). This is our Boxing Day tradition.
Christmas will be interesting.
